Evelyn was looking very glamorous as she posed for this shot. Evelyn's husband and Betsy's fiance were both serving their country during World War II, so the Akin sisters took a lot of photos to send to their guys.

In March of 1945, Betsy included this message in a letter to Chet: "Evelyn and I went to church this morning. It was so pretty this afternoon that we took some pictures to send you and Harold. We made two rolls and I do hope they will be good. We took some of Mother and I, Mary Lou and I, Evelyn, and several more. You'll see them if they're good."
