Previous | Damon Veach and his aunt, Annie Foshee Galbreath. Many social events in 1940 rural Louisiana centered about church activities...particularly cemeteries. There was an annual July 4th family reunion at the Logan cemetery (where this picture was taken) and an early spring cemetery-workin' at Cool Springs in Logansport. This gave families an opportunity to stay in close touch as well as to honor the memories of loved ones who had passed on. These were simple times and sounds corny by contemporary standards, yet I have such fond memories of these family get-togethers that I wish the tradition had continued. |
