Andy (Paul Andrew) loved dairy farming. Notwithstanding the 18 hour workdays, the backbreaking toil, the life of near-poverty, he could not have been happier with his work.

After my grandfather's death, I commissioned Walt Cude, a renowned Ft. Worth wildlife artist, to paint a portrait of Andy Veach that would capture and display the devotion Andy had for his dairy farm. I could not have been more pleased with Walt's creation. Someday when Walt Cude is recognized as the Fredreick Remington of our era, this painting will have as much financial value as it holds sentimental worth to me.

Andy is dressed in his Saturday go-to-town khakis. After the early milking, we would pack into the 1950 Chevy pickup and head to Logansport. No matter how little money he and Birdie might have, they always gave me a dollar to spend on toys, comic books, and an occasional Saturday afternoon movie. The dog is Sissy, an English Shepherd that could herd the stubbornest holstein into the milking barn.
