Young Chester Veach on his motorcycle. Chester grew up in Zylks, Louisiana which is only a couple miles from the Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas border. The area was a bustling boomtown when oil was discovered. The young crowd from Oil City were viewed as 'children of roughnecks' and were generally thought to be unsuitable companions for young ladies such as my Mother. Somehow, she and my father survived the class struggle and romance bloomed.
