The Mansfield Female college is rich with memories of historical north Louisiana. It is located three miles from the Civil War battlesite of Mansfield/Pleasant Hill. The battle of Mansfield was an important struggle for control of one of the South's largest and richest cotton districts as well as Shreveport, the rebel capital of Louisiana.
