Mildred Akin in the mid 1960s. She was a bright and loving woman. Described by those who knew her as 'an organized and disciplined decision-maker'. She had strong spiritual convictions and I remember a visit to Vivian as a small child when I was taken to Sunday School at the First Baptist Church. She gave me a quarter and instructed me how I should use it to make my first offering. In 1953, you could buy five candy bars with a quarter and I had trouble understanding why Jesus needed the money more than I did. I begrudgingly parted with the coin, but I remember how important this was to my grandmother. Thanks be to God for such family.
