As I spent hundreds of hours restoring old, faded, and damaged photographs, I learned much about the subjects. This photo was taken in Logansport on my first birthday. With me are A.G., my mother's younger brother, and Mary Lou. I never got to know A.G., but I learned much of him from this snapshot. He was obviously affectionate and genuinely fond of me. Not only was he being protective, but he was quite happy to be holding me and had not been coerced to make the pose. He was a sweet little boy, and I would have expected no less from the child of Mildred and Alex Akin.
