A beautiful little girl and her glamorous mother. This photo shows Mary Lou and Evelyn. In Betsy Earle's letter to Chet in March of 1945, she mentions that several rolls of film had been taken. I would guess that this photo was one of those snapshots. About this time, an incident occurred that horrified everyone. Mary Lou somehow managed to toddle away unnoticed. She was found a couple blocks from home and indicated that she was going to the drugstore for crackers. I can imagine the panic that the entire Akin family must have felt.
